The Jacksonville Jaguars took another step toward the playoffs on Thursday night, and they did it in dominant fashion. They beat the Baltimore Ravens 33-10 on the road and improved to 6-2. The win came one week after a 42-7 humiliation of the Colts, and it left Jacksonville well positioned to win the AFC South. Baltimore, meanwhile, sank to its fourth straight loss.

Blowouts Define Jacksonville’s Season

Lopsided wins are nothing new for the Jaguars, who have outscored their opponents by 108 points through eight games. The Colts rout in Week 8 stands as the largest win in the league so far. Jacksonville now owns three wins in 2026 by 24 or more points, while no other team owns more than one. The Jaguars came one point short of a fourth such win on Thursday.

The game marked Jacksonville’s prime-time season debut, and the rainy evening was hardly a beautiful exhibition of football glory. The Jaguars still did what they have done all season by blowing out another opponent, even after a few snafus. Some will argue it was not a fair fight, since the Ravens started a rookie undrafted free agent at quarterback. But in the any-given-Sunday atmosphere of the NFL, it is impressive when a good team does what it is supposed to do.

Thursday served as a microcosm of the Jaguars’ year. Trevor Lawrence is playing MVP-caliber football and using an assortment of talented skill position players to great effect. The defense and special teams have played terrifically as well. Jacksonville’s only stumble came in Week 6, when it lost to a disappointing Texans squad.

Oluokun Keeps the Focus on December

Winning another division title is not the team’s goal, and linebacker Foye Oluokun made that clear when he spoke to reporters after the game. He warned that winning can hide problems, and he drew on his own experience in Jacksonville.

“You win and it feels great. We can’t let wins mask stuff,” Oluokun said. “You’ve always got stuff to improve. I’ve been here a while, went through winning, winning, winning, and one season, we let a lot slide because we were winning. So we got to keep learning in wins and stuff because it’s all about who’s playing the best in December and then we make that run [in] January and February. We got to keep improving all the way through the year, get the advantageous situation going into the playoffs.”

The Jaguars hosted a playoff game after they won 13 games in 2025, but the Bills bounced them from the postseason. Oluokun was on the field for that loss. He now wants to keep the team’s focus in the right place while it runs roughshod over weaker clubs.

Ravens Reeling in the Rain

Baltimore had little to cheer on a wet night in its own stadium. The rain, the boos, and the losses all came down together as the Ravens dropped their fourth in a row. Starting undrafted free agent quarterback Joe Fagnano made the climb to topple one of the AFC’s best even steeper.

The problems went beyond the quarterback spot. Baltimore committed five accepted penalties for 31 yards in the first half, which set a poor tone. The offensive game plan clearly aimed to milk the clock, get creative, and use smoke and mirrors to help Fagnano find his way. Derrick Henry even took some snaps at quarterback and attempted a pass.

Afterward, the Ravens said they would not hide behind the absence of Lamar Jackson as they search for answers. The team’s message was “no excuses”, even as the struggles continue. Baltimore now faces a long stretch of self-examination while Jacksonville keeps rolling.

What Comes Next in Week 9

The NFL’s Week 9 slate continues on Sunday with several notable matchups. The Broncos (6-2) visit the Panthers (3-4), and the Lions (5-2) travel to face the Dolphins (1-6). The Chiefs (5-2) host the Jets (2-6) in the late afternoon window. The 49ers (6-1) host the Raiders (4-4) at the same time.

Two of the week’s marquee games come later. The Packers (5-3) face the Patriots (5-3) on Sunday night. The Bills (6-1) then meet the Vikings (6-1), and Minnesota plans to start quarterback Wentz after ruling out Murray with a hamstring injury.

For Jacksonville, the schedule matters less than the standard it has set. At 6-2, with an MVP-caliber quarterback, a terrific defense, and a league-best collection of blowouts, the Jaguars look ready for the spotlight. Whether they simply retain their division crown or make real noise in January, Thursday night showed a team that deserves recognition as an NFL heavyweight.
