Miley Cyrus enters a transformative phase in her career by adopting a professional mononym and preparing to release her 10th studio album. The singer now operates under the single name ‘Miley’ across her professional platforms, with recent changes reflected throughout her social media presence and official online channels. Atlantic Records will release “Bass Persuades” on September 18, marking another rapid creative turn for the prolific artist.

The newly renamed star described the forthcoming record through an Instagram announcement that emphasized music’s emotional power and universal reach.

“Music takes hold of us. We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me,” Miley wrote.

This philosophical approach to the album title suggests a deeply personal exploration of music’s capacity to connect with human emotion across the full spectrum of lived experience. The artist positions “Bass Persuades” as both a conceptual statement and an invitation to experience music’s transformative qualities. Her description frames the project as an examination of how sound influences feeling, behavior, and emotional expression.

Rapid-Fire Creative Output Continues

“Bass Persuades” follows Miley’s 2025 album “Something Beautiful,” demonstrating the artist’s accelerated release schedule and sustained creative momentum. The quick turnaround between projects reflects an unusually productive period in her career. Since releasing “Something Beautiful,” Miley expanded that project with a deluxe edition featuring collaborations with David Byrne and Lindsey Buckingham, two legendary figures from rock history whose participation signals the artistic ambition behind her recent work.

The singer’s recent activities extend beyond pure music releases into multimedia entertainment ventures. She contributed original music to James Cameron‘s highly anticipated film “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” which expands the blockbuster franchise into new narrative territory. Additionally, Miley participated in a 20th anniversary special for “Hannah Montana,” the Disney Channel series that launched her career and established her as a household name. These diverse projects showcase an artist comfortable moving between commercial pop, cinematic composition, and nostalgic retrospective work.

Historic Hollywood Bowl Performances Scheduled

Miley will introduce her new album through two performances at Los Angeles‘ iconic Hollywood Bowl on October 16 and 18. The concerts carry the official billing “Miley: Bass Persuades – Live at the Hollywood Bowl” and represent a significant milestone as her first-ever performances at the historic venue. The shows will feature Model/Actriz as the opening act, introducing audiences to the experimental art-punk group before Miley takes the stage.

General-public ticket sales launch on September 10 following presale opportunities for dedicated fans. Interested attendees can access full ticketing details and purchasing information through Miley’s official website. The Hollywood Bowl performances place Miley within a storied performance tradition at a venue known for hosting legendary artists across decades of popular music history. The amphitheater’s distinctive outdoor setting and superior acoustics make it a coveted performance space for artists seeking to create memorable concert experiences.

Personal Loss Shapes New Era

The album announcement arrives during a period of profound personal grief for Miley following the death of her godmother, the legendary Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25 at age 80. The loss of Parton, a country music icon and cultural institution, represents a devastating blow for Miley, who maintained an exceptionally close relationship with her famous godmother throughout her life and career.

Miley recently honored Parton through a heartfelt tribute that revealed the depth of their private connection while respecting the sacred nature of their relationship.

“The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. Our most sacred moments were private and they’ll stay there behind the stage, beneath the glamour & between our hearts. what I KNOW is Dolly would want me to feel it, write a song about it, and then continue on and be strong. I have an angel by my side. I always have. One of our last conversations was about music and metamorphosis. I will always love her and want to make her proud. My heart breaks for the world, her family and friends who will miss her deeply. We’re in this loss together and we will see her in all of the most beautiful things,” Cyrus wrote.

The tribute reveals that Parton’s final conversations with Miley centered on themes of music and metamorphosis, concepts that directly align with the artist’s current rebranding and creative evolution. Parton’s encouragement to process grief through songwriting and maintain strength through adversity appears to influence Miley’s decision to move forward with the album release and upcoming performances. The reference to having “an angel by my side” suggests Miley views her creative work as carrying forward Parton’s legacy and honoring their deeply intertwined artistic relationship.

Name Change Signals Professional Evolution

The decision to adopt a professional mononym places Miley among a select group of artists who operate under single-name identities in popular music. This branding strategy typically signals an artist’s confidence in their cultural recognition and desire to establish a simplified, iconic presence. Artists such as Madonna, Prince, Beyoncé, and Adele have successfully employed single-name branding to create instantly recognizable brands that transcend traditional naming conventions.

For Miley, dropping her surname represents more than mere marketing strategy-it suggests a deliberate separation from family identity and past associations while embracing a more focused artistic persona. The timing of this change alongside album announcement and venue debut indicates a coordinated rebranding effort designed to mark a distinct phase in her career. The transformation from “Miley Cyrus” to simply “Miley” streamlines her public identity while maintaining the familiarity of her established first name.

Looking Ahead to September Release

Fans can presave “Bass Persuades” through designated digital platforms ahead of its September 18 release date. The album’s thematic focus on music’s persuasive emotional power suggests a project that explores vulnerability, strength, and human connection through sound. Whether the record reflects Miley’s recent personal loss or represents work completed before Parton’s passing remains to be seen, though the artist’s tribute statement suggests grief and creative continuation will remain intertwined themes moving forward.

The Hollywood Bowl concerts in October will provide the first public showcase of material from “Bass Persuades” while introducing the mononymous “Miley” persona to live audiences. These performances represent a pivotal moment where personal transformation, professional rebranding, and artistic evolution converge on one of popular music’s most prestigious stages.
