King and Queen carry out first engagement together since coronation

The King and Queen have carried out their first official engagement together since the coronation.

The couple spoke to traders and members of the public in Covent Garden’s Apple Market in London and waved to large crowds that had gathered.

They also met children outside St Paul’s Church, known as the Actors’ Church, to mark its 390th anniversary.

The Queen said “hello” to one group of children and shook their hands.

She was also seen eating a chocolate-coated strawberry in the market.

Last week, the King carried out his first official engagement since his coronation by breaking ground for a new laboratory aimed at speeding up the development of net zero aviation in Cambridge.

Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first public appearance since the King’s coronation at the Ms. Foundation for Women’s annual gala.
