Police pull over ‘Del Boy’ three-wheeler – and can’t resist making Only Fools And Horses quips

Sussex Police couldn’t resist making a series of quips after catching a driver speeding in an Only Fools And Horses-style three-wheeled van.

The bright yellow Robin Reliant was emblazoned with “Trotters Independent Trading Co” across the back, just like the vehicle used by Del Boy (played by Sir David Jason) in the hit comedy.

Black text underneath the licence plate read “New York, Paris, Nuneaton & Bedworth”.

Del Boy’s famous three-wheeler had “New York, Paris, Peckham” on the side.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Sussex Roads Police said officers pulled the vehicle over for travelling at 43mph in a 30mph zone.

The force then discovered the driver only had a provisional licence and the vehicle was seized.

A Sussex Police spokesperson told Sky News the incident took place on Brighton Road, Worthing, at around 10.10pm on Sunday.

In the social media post, the force couldn’t resist a couple of references to the classic BBC sitcom.

“THIS TIME NEXT YEAR WE’LL BE MILLIONAIRES,” Sussex Police wrote, quoting Sir David’s iconic character.

In a nod to Del Boy’s hapless brother, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, the force added: “You plonker, Rodney.”
