Body found in quarry of missing teenager last seen more than six weeks ago

Police searching for a teenager first reported missing more than six weeks ago say they have found his body.

Warwickshire Police say officers found the body in the water at Newbold Quarry Nature Reserve, in Rugby, on Thursday afternoon.

It has now been identified as 17-year-old Toby Burwell, who had been missing from his Newbold home since 20 February.

The teenager’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police previously said they believed the teenager had got into difficulty while swimming in the water at Newbold Quarry – a disused quarry which is now a lake and nature reserve.

Officers said that, despite extensive searches, officers found no evidence the teenager “ever left the water, and there had been no positive sighting since”.
